DUBAI – Emirates NBD has introduced the UAE’s first bank-branded gold bar, marking a notable development for the country’s financial and precious metals markets.

Branded as ‘Emirates NBD Gold’, the product was unveiled in the presence of Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Emirates NBD Group, alongside senior group officials. The launch positions the banking group at the intersection of traditional bullion investment and modern financial services.

Designed for both savers and investors, Emirates NBD Gold represents a new physical investment option backed by one of the region’s largest banking institutions. The introduction comes as Dubai continues to strengthen its standing as a global centre for gold trading, refining and investment, supported by deep market liquidity and a well-established regulatory framework.

First in UAE

Emirates NBD Gold is the first gold bar in the UAE to be issued under a bank’s brand, creating a new category within the domestic investment landscape. The initiative reflects the growing demand for tangible assets as part of diversified portfolios, particularly during periods of global economic uncertainty. By entering the bullion space with a branded product, Emirates NBD expands its investment offering beyond traditional banking and wealth management solutions.

The launch also aligns with the UAE’s broader agenda focused on financial innovation, asset diversification and a digital-first economy. Emirates NBD’s move reinforces Dubai’s role as a gateway for gold flows across the Middle East, Asia and Africa, while highlighting the emirate’s ambition to deepen value-added services within the gold sector.

Emirates NBD Gold

Emirates NBD Gold is available exclusively to Emirates NBD customers through a dedicated Gold Certificate. The certificate allows investors to redeem the gold at any time, offering flexibility in how the asset is held. Customers may choose to keep the gold bar in the bank’s safe custody or request physical delivery, depending on their preference.

The gold bars are issued in sealed denominations of 10 grams, 50 grams and 100 grams. Each bar features the Emirates NBD logo and is accompanied by a unique certificate of authenticity and ownership, providing assurance on quality and provenance. Access to the product is available through relationship managers as well as the bank’s digital platform.

Emirates NBD traces its association with the gold trade back to 1963, when it issued the UAE’s first Letter of Credit, a move that supported early gold commerce in the country. The introduction of Emirates NBD Gold builds on that legacy, linking decades of banking history with evolving investor needs.
